The origin and history of the genus

The last Smolensk-specific prince , Alexander Svyatoslavich , nicknamed Dashek, was the younger brother of the famous Grand Duke Yury Svyatoslavich . After the capture of Smolensk by the troops of the Grand Duke Vitovt in 1404, he fled to the Moscow principality , where he died 4 years later, leaving his son Mikhail Dashkova, nicknamed Zyalo. [3]

It is from him that the small princely lineage of Dashkov comes, in the time before Peter the Great, which was not very noticeable in the service and did not occupy posts above the okolnichy . The tomb of Dashkov served as a cathedral church of the Novospassky monastery on the bank of the Moscow River.

  • Prince Andrei Dmitrievich Dashkov , grandson of Mikhail Zyalo, a boyar boy’s son and governor of Moscow.
  • Prince Ivan Dmitrievich Dashkov , grandson of Mikhail Zyalo, voivode of the Livonian War , governor of Novosil , was executed by oprichniki in 1568.
    • Prince Ivan Ivanovich Dashkov , the great-grandson of the previous one, the judge of the Rogue Order , in 1685 was granted in okolichii.
      • Uliana Ivanovna , the daughter of the previous one, “the supreme boyar and mother” of Tsarevich Semyon and Peter Alekseevich; wife of Prince I. V. Golitsyn
      • Prince Peter Ivanovich Dashkov , the brother of the previous, the steward, married to Sofya Leontievna Lopukhina
        • Prince Ivan Petrovich Dashkov (1694-1743), son of the previous one, captain of the Preobrazhensky regiment . The first two marriages are married to Elena Dmitrieva-Mamonova and Princess Evdokia Koltsova-Mosalskaya. He strengthened his position in society by marrying a rich heiress Anastasia Leontyeva - the daughter of General MI Leontyev , grand-niece of Prince A.D. Menshikov , cousin of the Panin brothers.
          • Prince Mikhail Ivanovich Dashkov (1736-64), the son of a previous third marriage, brigadier, died young during the Polish campaign; He was married to Countess Ekaterina Romanovna Vorontsova (1743–1810), who from 1783 headed the Petersburg Academy of Sciences and in general was the most famous bearer of this family name.
            • Prince Pavel Mikhailovich Dashkov (1763-1807), the only son of the previous one, the last representative of the clan; Lieutenant-General, Kiev military governor (1798), Moscow provincial leader of the nobility (since 1802). Children from marriage to merchant's daughter Anna Alferova did not leave; His children born out of wedlock bore the surname of the Sherbinins (among them the historian M. P. Shcherbinin ).

On the advice of his mother, the last prince Dashkov declared heir to the family estates, including Troitskoe on Protva , her great-nephew, Count Ivan Illarionovich Vorontsov , who was the highest allowed to be called Vorontsov-Dashkov. His descendants - also Vorontsov-Dashkovs - do not originate, thus, from the princes Dashkov even if only through the female line.
