Yak-242 is a project of a passenger plane of the Yakovlev Design Bureau , developed in 1993. It is a deep modernization of the Yak-42 . According to its characteristics, it occupies an intermediate position between short-haul and medium-haul passenger airplanes; it could be produced in cargo-passenger and cargo versions in addition to the basic passenger one.

Aircraft Design
The aircraft is an all-metal monoplane of a normal design with a low-lying swept wing, classic plumage, retractable landing gear and engines located on pylons under the wing. It is planned to install two of the latest Russian fifth-generation turbojet engines PD-14 developed by "UEC-Aviadvigatel" named after P. A. Solovyov with a thrust of 14,000 kg each or foreign engines of the PW1428G / 1431G type [1] . The aircraft is designed for 156-162 passengers.

Project Implementation
