Biography
Daniil Korzhov was born in November 1902 in the village of Nikolaevka (now Volchansky district of the Kharkiv region of Ukraine ). Received primary education. In 1924 - 1927 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1941, Korzhov was repeatedly called up for military service. From October 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By September 1943, the Red Army guard Daniil Korzhov was a Sabel of the 60th Guards Cavalry Regiment of the 16th Guards Cavalry Division of the 7th Guards Cavalry Corps of the 61st Army of the Central Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .
On September 28, 1943, Korzhov, under massive enemy fire, was one of the first in the regiment to cross the Dnieper near the village of Lopatni of the Repkinsky district of the Chernigov region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the battles on the bridgehead on its western shore. With machine gun fire, he destroyed a group of German soldiers who were trying to disrupt the crossing of the regiment. In November 1943, Korzhov went missing [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 15, 1944, Red Army soldier Daniel Korzhov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union for the “exemplary performance of the combat command of the command in the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” by the Guard. He was also awarded the Order of Lenin [1] and the Red Star [2] .
