Biography

Fedor Korzhavin was born on April 21, 1902 in the village of Nizhny Ladino of the Arkhangelsk district of the Arkhangelsk province (now the Primorsky district of the Arkhangelsk region ). Received secondary education. In 1921 - 1922 he served in the Worker and Peasant Red Army, participated in the battles of the Civil War . Demobilized, he lived in Arkhangelsk , worked at a local sawmill. He graduated from the concurrent school, after which he worked as the editor of the large-circulation newspaper of the Arkhangelsk paper mill. He participated in an expedition to explore the Northern Sea Route . In December 1941, Korzhavin was re-drafted into the army. Since January 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By July 1944, Senior Sergeant Fyodor Korzhavin was a telephone operator at the 410th Artillery Regiment of the 134th Rifle Division of the 69th Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland [1] .

On July 29, 1944, Korzhavin, as part of the advance detachment, crossed the Vistula River near the city of Pulawy , laid a telephone cable along its bottom, establishing a connection between the artillery battery and the observation post of the regiment command. For two days of fighting, he had to cross the Vistula 12 times, laying new communication cables and repairing damage on the old ones [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 21, 1945, Senior Sergeant Fedor Korzhavin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .

After the war, Korzhavin was demobilized. He returned to Arkhangelsk , worked at a paper mill. He later moved to Sochi [1] .

Died, buried in the Old Cemetery of Sochi [2] .

He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
