Li Yueju ( Chinese ex. 李 月 п , pinyin : Lǐ Yuèjiǔ , born November 19, 1957) is a Chinese gymnast, Olympic medalist and world champion.

Biography

Li Yueju was born in 1957 in Yingkou , Liaoning Province. From the age of 12 he was selected to the provincial team, where he began to do gymnastics. In 1977 he won the Universiade. In 1978 he won the championship of China, an international tournament in Shanghai and became the champion of the Asian Games. In 1980, Li Yueju became the first gymnast in the history of the PRC in Nanjing to receive 10 points in floor exercises. In 1981, he again became the champion of the Universiade, and at the World Cup he won the gold medal in floor exercises (and the bronze in the team). At the 1983 World Championships, Li Yueju won the gold medal as part of the team, and at the 1984 Olympics he won the silver medal as part of the team.

At the end of his sports career at the end of 1984, Li Yueju moved to Canada, where in 1986 he married the renowned Chinese gymnast Wu Jian ; the couple later moved to the USA.
