Grodekovo (station)

Grodekovo is a railway station in the Primorsky Territory , located near the border with China and is a railway border transshipment crossing .

In the past, Grodekovo was the station of the historical Sino-Eastern Railway , the first large freight and passenger station in the Russian ( Soviet ) territory, on which a train arriving from the west (from the Chita Region ) via China arrived.

Settlement - pos. Border of Primorsky Krai.

The station is named after Nikolai Ivanovich Grodekov , Amur Governor General .

At present, the main function of the station is to transship goods from China by rail to Russia, mainly to the Far Eastern Federal District , as well as Russian raw materials exported to China.

The Grodekovo station is connected to the Chinese Suifenhe station by both the Russian gauge (1520 mm) and the standard European ( combined four-track railway gauge ). Chinese freight trains arrive on Russian territory for unloading, and Russian freight trains follow for unloading in Suifenhe. A Russian passenger train runs between Suifenhe and Grodekovo, mainly transporting shuttles . If necessary, the cars are rearranged .
