The style can be described as folk, and not only Hungarian motives were guessed in the rhythms of their songs, but also Serbian, Slovak, and Mediterranean. In the 90s, the group became particularly successful and gained popularity not only in Hungary but also abroad, getting time and time again the opportunity to speak at prestigious music forums.
The group achieved the greatest success in 2000-2001, when the album Smaragdváros was released, bringing the band worldwide fame. Shortly thereafter, in the repertoire of the Ghymes group, there is a tendency to switch for the most part to jazz compositions, which nonetheless contained folk motifs.
