Scientific activity

The theme of the dissertation of Louis Ducro in Latin was the philosophy of Immanuel Kant [1] . He saw the continuation of the ideas of the German thinker in the works of Arthur Schopenhauer , to whom the book Schopenhauer: the origins of his metaphysics is dedicated ( Schopenhauer: les origines de sa métaphysique , 1883).

In 1886, Ducro published a study of the work of Heinrich Heine , in which special attention was paid to the life and customs of the era. Interest in the social and everyday side of society will be decisive in the final work of the scientist “French Society of the 18th Century” ( La Société française au XVIIIe siècle , 1922).

The fame of Louis Ducroc brought work on writers and philosophers of the XVIII century : " Diderot : man and writer" ( Diderot: l'homme et l'écrivain , 1894), " Encyclopedists " ( Les Encyclopédistes , 1900), etc. Among them - a monumental three-volume work on the life and work of Jean-Jacques Rousseau .
