Biography
Peter Konyaev was born on July 4, 1922 in the village of Poplevino [1] . He graduated from nine classes of the school. In 1940, Konyaev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1942, he graduated with honors from the Bataisk Military Aviation Pilot School. Since October 1943 - on the fronts of World War II. He took part in the battles on the Baltic , 3rd Belorussian and 1st Ukrainian fronts [2] .
Toward the end of the war, Senior Lieutenant Pyotr Konyaev commanded the link of the 482nd Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 322nd Fighter Air Division of the 2nd Air Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front. By that time, he had completed 165 sorties, took part in 35 air battles, shooting down 14 enemy aircraft in person and another 1 as part of the group [3] . He made a series of assaults on accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, inflicting heavy losses on him [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, for “exemplary fulfillment of command assignments and shown courage and heroism in battles with the German invaders,” Senior Lieutenant Pyotr Konyaev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin with the number 38896 and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 6033 [2] .
In 1947, Konyaev was transferred to the reserve with the rank of senior lieutenant. He lived in Ryazan . He died suddenly on August 8, 1951, was buried in his native village [2] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , World War 2 degree, Red Star , a number of medals [2] .
