Biography
Sergey Konyukhov was born on June 15, 1921 in the village of Pavlovskaya Sloboda (now the Istrinsky District of the Moscow Region ). After graduating from seven classes of school he worked as a milling machine operator. In 1940, Konyukhov was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1943 he graduated from the Chkalov military aviation school of pilots. From the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By February 1945, Lieutenant Sergey Konyukhov commanded the link of the 995th assault air regiment of the 306th assault division of the 17th Air Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . By that time, he had made 103 combat sorties to attack the clusters of military equipment and enemy personnel, his important objects and communications, causing him great losses [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, Lieutenant Sergei Konyukhov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal " 5445 [1] .
After the war, Konyukhov continued his service in the Soviet Army. In 1959, in the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was dismissed. He lived in Kremenchug , worked as a training instructor in the Kremenchug Flight School of Civil Aviation. He died on August 1, 2005, and was buried at the Novogorodsk cemetery of Kremenchug [1] .
He was also awarded two Orders of the Red Banner , two Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, Orders of Glory of the 3rd degree and the Red Star , along with a number of medals [1] .
In September 2015, a bust monument to the Hero, created by sculptor Denis Petrov, was opened in the village of Pavlovskaya Sloboda, Istrinsky District, Moscow Region [2] .
