Geographical position
The city is located in the southwestern part of the governorate, in the left bank of the Nile River valley, on the border with the Libyan Desert , approximately 34 kilometers south-southeast (SSE) from Asyut , the provincial capital. The absolute height is 48 meters above sea level [1] .
