Career

Club

Metlichich began to engage in handball in his hometown as part of the Brodomerkur club. In 1998, together with his friends Dragan and Goran Erkovichi, he moved to the Metkovich Jambo team, in which he won the EHF Cup. In 2003, he went to Spain to the Ademar Leon club, with whom he won the EHF Cup Winners Cup in 2005, after which he left for Ciudad Real. In 2006, 2008 and 2009, as part of Real Madrid, Petar won the EHF Champions League . In 2010, he moved to Slovenia, where he played as part of Celje . He spent the 2012/2013 season in the French club Montpellier [1] , at the end of which he announced his retirement [2] .

Team

Petar played 144 games for the national team and scored 407 goals. He was a regular base player in the national team, and was also one of the few universal players who knew how to practice defense and attack. He played at the 2003 and 2005 World Championships, where he became the champion and silver medalist respectively (at the last championship he was the only universal player in the national team). At his last five tournaments, Petar always overcame the quarterfinal stage: he had silver medals at the 2008 European Championship and 2004 Olympic Championship.
