This list contains the Heroes of the Soviet Union buried in the Smolensk region - a total of 76 people, as well as the years of their life, military ranks, places and photos of the graves. To date, not a single Hero of the Soviet Union has survived in the region.
71 A hero of the Soviet Union, buried in the Smolensk region, received this title for military services during the Great Patriotic War , 34 of them posthumously (they are highlighted in gray in the table). One person was awarded the title: for battles on Lake Hasan in 1938 (V.P. Vinokurov), for military merits in the Sino-Japanese War (A. A. Gubenko), for military merits in the Soviet-Finnish War (S. N. Nikolenko), for the suppression of the Hungarian uprising of 1956 (V.V. Subbotin), for participating in the tests of the latest nuclear equipment of the Navy (E. D. Baltin). The largest in the region the number of Heroes of the Soviet Union (29 people) is buried in the cemeteries of the city of Smolensk.
