Dog breeds according to the classification of dog organizations

Dog breeding all over the world is carried out under the auspices of dog breeding organizations, whose functions include standardizing dog breeds and ensuring the unity of development criteria and examination of the breed in different countries. The largest cynological organization in Russia - the Russian Cynological Federation (RKF) is a member of the International Cynological Federation (FCI). Pedigree dog breeding in Russia is regulated by the Regulation on pedigree work, approved by the Decision of the Presidium of the RKF [1] . The regulation establishes that in pedigree dog breeding in Russia pedigrees of dogs registered in the Russian pedigree book (RKF), pedigree books of other organizations - members of the FCI, as well as pedigree books of the American (ACC), English (ACC) and (CCC) are recognized dog breeding clubs (these countries are not FCI members). Each of these canine organizations has its own list of dog breeds, as well as its own breed classification [2] [3] .

The list contains a list of breeds according to the FCI Breed Nomenclature [4] . Classification of dog breeds FCI provides for the division of breeds into groups, sections and sections. This classification is the basis of the list: each part of the table includes the rocks of one group, organized by sections and sections, while within the section (section) the rocks are listed in alphabetical order. For each breed, the list shows:

  • Russian name of the breed;
  • the country representing the breed in the FCI (usually the country of origin);
  • the name of the breed in the language of the country of origin and in English (according to the FCI breed nomenclature);
  • year of recognition of the FCI breed. For breeds that were not initially recognized on a preliminary basis, years of recognition are given on a preliminary and permanent basis;
  • breed standard number, date of official publication of the current standard, link to the breed card on the FCI website with the texts of the standard in English, French, German, Spanish (for breeds not recognized by FCI, a link to the standard text on the website of the dog training organization of the country of origin of the breed is given) ;
  • breed classification code for RKF and recognized canine organizations (AKK, AKS, KKK) in accordance with the following conventions;
  • varieties within the same breed (according to the FCI nomenclature);
  • Link to the appropriate category in Wikimedia Commons .

As in most countries of the world, cynological federations of countries on the list recognize individual breeds not covered by the FCI nomenclature. As a rule, these are breeds of national breeding that do not meet the requirements for international recognition of the breed. Dogs of these breeds cannot receive international titles, but can receive the title of national champion. Such breeds are listed in a separate section “Breeds outside the FCI classification”.

A number of dog breeds are at the stage of preliminary recognition, the task of which is the formation of a full-fledged livestock, as well as the analysis of the stability of pedigree characters. Such breeds are usually called “conditionally recognized”, and in the list they are marked with the symbol USL. In the American Kennel Club, a special unit of the Foundation Stock Service [5] is engaged in cynological support of rare and conditionally recognized breeds.

As of August 2014, the International Cynological Federation recognizes 343 dog breeds (of which 11 are conditionally recognized). The breeding position of the RKF contains 234 breeds, including 213 included in the FCI nomenclature. 146 breeds are recognized by all cynological organizations included in the list (highlighted in a darker table). The total number of breeds in the list is 376.
