The Transgenic Pride ( German: Transgenialer CSD ), also the Kreuzberg Pride ( German: Kreuzberger CSD ) is an alternative left-handed gay parade , held since 1998 on the fourth Saturday of June in Berlin's Kreuzberg district . [1] [2]
The organizers of the parade present it as an alternative to the increasing commercialization of Christopher Street Day's official Berlin pride and hold it on the same day that the main pride takes place. [2] The idea of creating an alternative gay pride came up with several small groups of people after the organizers of the main pride in 1997 began to charge for the participation of cars in the parade. [2] In addition, the Kreuzberg Pride specifically emphasizes the participation of queer people who do not fall within the stereotypical framework of heteronormativity . Therefore, in this parade you can often see disguised persons violating all the usual images - women with glued beards, men in dresses, etc. [3]
"Transgenic Pride" is directed against homophobia , transphobia , discrimination against LGBT people and intersexuals , against heteronormativity and racism . Pride organizers also touch upon the problems of gentrification and expulsion. Organizers do not welcome the participation of political parties and commercial organizations, and the use of national symbols is also not desirable.
An alternative parade gathers a small audience, the number of its participants and guests, usually does not exceed 1,500 people [4] , which is hundreds of times less than the main pride. The parade is attended mainly by representatives of the left alternative scene from the LGBT community. After the march, a festive evening is held at the Kreuzberg Club Club SO36 on Oranienstrasse .
