Ganna Shomaker (nee Petersen; August 26, 1858 - November 25, 1913 [1] ) was a Russian writer and playwright who belonged to the Baltic Germans . She wrote in German .

Born in Wenden ( Lifland province ), came from a rich and noble family. She graduated from the Higher Women's School, then the Pedagogical School in Riga , receiving a diploma of a home teacher. In 1880 she married Karl Schomaker and with him moved to the capital of the Russian Empire , St. Petersburg , where she lived for thirty years. There she established friendly relations with German-speaking writers and, thanks to their support, was able to collaborate in the St. Petersburg-based German-language newspaper St. Petersburger Zeitung. Her works were published not only in the Russian, but also in the German Empire, where they had a much greater fame. In 1910 she decided to go to Germany and spent the last three years of her life in Wiesbaden .
Her works include a number of short stories, fairy tales and humorous stories in “Illustrirte Welt”, “Illustrirte Zeitung”, “Neue Revue” and other publications. Separately were published: "Bunte Märchen" (2nd edition, Leipzig, 1896); "Klumpe-Dumpe u. andere Märchen ”(Hamburg, 1892); Liebeswirren, short story (ib., 1893).
