History
During the Ming empire, these places were the nomadic descendants in the 17th tribe of Belgutei - Genghis Khan's elder brother, so the local Mongols were called “abganar” (translated from Mongolian “abga” means “uncle by father”). When in the first half of the 17th century the Mongols submitted to the Manchus, the latter introduced their eight- banner system among the Mongols, and the Aganans were divided into two “banners” (in Mongolian - Hoshuna): Abganar-Zoitsi (“Khoshun of the left wing Abganars”) and Abganar- Yuiqi ("Hoshun Abganarov of the Right Wing"), the princes were commanded the "wings" in the rank of " Beile ". In addition to the Abganars, the Abga and Hotsit tribes also lived here. In 1743, the Beizzymyao temple complex was built here (贝 子 庙, “Princely idol”).
Under the Republic of China, the management system of the Mongols did not change, but after the establishment of communist power, changes in the administrative division began. In the spring of 1949, the khoshuns Abganar-Zuoci (阿巴哈纳尔 左翼 旗), Abga-Zuoci (阿巴嘎 左翼 旗) and Hotsit-Yuiqi (浩 齐 特 右翼 旗) were united in Zhongbu-Lianhezi (中部 联合 旗, " The united khoshun of the central tribes ”), and Abganar-Yuitsi (阿巴哈纳尔 右翼 旗) ended up in Sibu-Lianhetsi (西部 联合 旗,“ the united khoshun of the western tribes ”). On May 26, 1952, Zhongbu-Lianheqi and Sibu-Lianheqi were united into the Hoshun Sibu-Lianheqi, whose reign was located in Beizzymao. On September 15, 1953, by the decision of the People's Government of Aimak Shilin-Gol, Somon Beizzymyao was renamed Shilin-Hoto.
On July 3, 1956, by decision of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the khoshun Sibu-Lianheqi was renamed Abga-Qi (阿巴嘎旗), and on August 21 of the same year, Shilin-Hoto was removed from it and transferred directly to the aimak government. On April 15, 1959, Shilin-Hoto was elevated from somon to a city khoshun (city district), directly subordinate to the aimak government, and in September of that year its territory was expanded to include part of the lands of koshun Abga-Qi.
On October 23, 1963, by the decision of the State Council of the PRC, Shilin-Hoto was renamed Abganar-Qi (и 旗) and received additional land from its neighbors. On December 14, 1979, in the official Chinese spelling of the name Hoshun, the character 哈 was replaced by 嘎. On October 10, 1983, by the decision of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the khoshun Abganar-Qi was liquidated, and the city district of Shilin-Hoto was formed in its place.
