Biography
Alexander Kondratyuk was born on August 14 (in the new style - on August 27 ), 1916 in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg ). After completing seven classes of school he worked as a turner at the Leningrad Optical-Mechanical Plant. In September 1934, Kondratyuk was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1937 he graduated from the Kharkov Military Aviation Pilot School. Participated in the Sino-Japanese War [1] .
From June 1941 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Repeatedly distinguished in battles [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 5, 1942, for “courage and heroism shown in battles”, Captain Alexander Kondratyuk was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 567. Deputy Squadron Commander of the 5th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Kalinin Front [1] .
In August 1942, he was seriously wounded, after which he was hospitalized for a long time. During his participation in the battles, he made 337 combat sorties, took part in 63 air battles, personally shooting down 8 enemy aircraft. Since 1943, Kondratyuk was a test pilot of the military acceptance of the Moscow Aviation Plant No. 381, since 1947 - a military acceptance of the Tushino Aviation Plant No. 82. He participated in the testing of the MiG-15 aircraft, during which one of the flights an accident occurred, during which Kondratyuk was seriously injured heads. After that, he resigned and broke up with the flight work. He lived in Moscow . He died on May 22, 1994, and was buried at the Kuntsevo cemetery of Moscow [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Red Star , and a number of medals [1] .
