The clerks of Ivan the Terrible were: Vazhen, Gregory, Danila, Denis, Ermak, Dmitry, Evdokim, Stepan, Fedor, Filimon, Yudka Timofeev (1573) [1] .

According to apocryphal information of the genealogy of the legend, the Oryol clan of the Timofeevs comes from Mitka Vasiliev, son of Timofeev , the oprichnik Ivan IV the Terrible (1573) [2] [1] . His son, Bogdan Dmitrievich, was recorded as the son of the boyars in the “tent of Pereyaslavl” and together with his wife Anna live until his death (1595) in Pereyaslavl [3] [4] [5] . The grandson of Bogdan - Ananiy Naumovich Timofeev is in the city service in Orel (1645) [9] .

The ancestor of the Kursk branch of the clan is Philip Ananyevich Timofeev , who was born (circa 1633) in the Tochukovsky camp of the Oryol district in the family of a nobleman [10] [11] . He entered the service (1653) with a rank , was on the list of Tsar Fedor Alekseevich in the Sevsky regiment between nobles and boyar children (1680) “While serving as a rank and file for feats of arms and service, he was granted three hundred quarters of the land, four hundred quarters of his salary and money with the city , and the estates behind him in the Oryol district in Tochukovsky camp. ” [12] . Offspring comes from him: Ignat (p. 1661), the lands of the landowners in the city of Kromy (1686) are recorded, the Rechitsky camp, the Zbornaya settlement (which was the repair of Lunev) [13] [14] , Mark (p. 1667), Korney ( p. 1669), Yuri (p. 1671) [15] .
