History

In 1826 the temple was built and consecrated [1] .

This cathedral was built instead of another church, due to the destruction that occurred due to the spills of the river, since the temple was located on the banks of the Seversky Donets on Zamostyanskaya street [1] .

In 1903, the bell tower was erected on two floors, and two altars were also built: on the right in the name of the holy wonderworkers Cosmas and Damian , on the left in the name of the Kazan Icon and the Peschan Icon of the Mother of God .

From 1983 to 2008, the church was renovated [1] .

In 2000, the department of the vicar’s bishop was established in the church, and thanks to this, the cathedral became a cathedral [1] .

In 2005, gilding was added to the dome [1] .

From 2006 to 2007, the temple was painted, as well as the replacement of iconostases [1] .

At the cathedral a hotel and a spring were opened [1] .

Shrines

The icon of the Peschanskaya Mother of God appeared under the Belgorod Bishop, Hierarch Joasaph (née Joachim Gorlenko) in 1754 [1] [2] .

The Sandy Mother of God came to the bishop in a dream. In a dream, St. Joasaph saw an icon in a pile of garbage, after which the Blessed Virgin Mary told him [1] [2] :

Look what the servants of this temple have done to My face. My Image is assigned to this country as a source of grace, and they plunged it into dirty linen.

When the bishop returned to the cathedral, he suddenly saw an icon that was in a deplorable state in the narthex and served as a partition into which coal was put for the censer [1] [2] .

By order of St. Joasaph, the icon was cleaned and put in a prominent place. [1] [2] .

The temple also contains the following shrines [2] :

  • Icon of St. Nicholas [2] .
  • Icon of the great martyr Panteleimon [2] .
  • Icon of St. George the Victorious [2] .
  • Icon of John the Warrior [2] .
  • Particles of the relics of many saints, including the relics of the Belgorod bishop St. Joasaph [2] .

Priests

The following people serve in the church: Rector-Metropolitan Izyumsky and Kupyansky Elisey (Ivanov), Archpriest Alexey Godlevsky, Archpriest Sergiy Prototsky

  • Archpriest Nicholas. Real name is Danyliv Nikolay Stepanovich . Born December 4, 1971 in a family of workers [4] .

Kirichenkova Krinitsa

Kirichenkova Krinitsa is a well-known spring for spring water. A few years ago, a wooden temple was built at the source, during which the monastery of the Peschansk Icon of the Blessed Virgin was later founded. [1] .
