Biography

Born in 1923 in the village of Matveyevo, Totemsky District. The son of a sailor from the Baltic - a participant in the October Revolution and the Civil War. In early 1942 he volunteered for the Red Army. Member of the CPSU. Since March of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In 1943, Kolychev graduated from junior lieutenants. By December 1944, Lieutenant Oleg Kolychev commanded a platoon of the 1st rifle regiment of the 99th rifle division of the 46th army of the 2nd Ukrainian front . Distinguished during the forcing of the Danube [1] .

On December 5, 1944, Kolychev's platoon crossed the Danube 3 kilometers north of the city of in Hungary , broke through the enemy's front defenses and captured the bridgehead on its right bank, after which it repulsed German counterattacks. In those battles Kolychev was seriously wounded, but continued to fight [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945 for "exemplary performance of combat tasks of the command at the front of the struggle against the German invaders and for showing courage and heroism" senior lieutenant Oleg Kolychev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star " number 7627 [1] .
