The Kazan Church is a historical Orthodox church in Lugansk (1864-1935) [1] [2] [3] .

History
On October 9, 1861, information appeared in the mining and salt department in the Lugansk Plant that some merchants wanted to build a church in the village of Lugansk Plant [1] .
From 1861 to 1864 the construction of the temple was in progress [1] [3] .
In the architecture of the Kazan Church for the first time for Lugansk temples 5 baths were used [1] .
In 1909, the city council decided to allocate 500 rubles to build a bell tower. An honorary citizen of Lugansk Ivan Pivovarov [1] [3] took part in the allocation of funds.
In 1910, a three-tier iron bell tower was attached to the temple [3] .
In 1935, the Bolsheviks closed the temple, and on November 6, instead of crosses, red flags were hung out [2] .
In 1937 the church was destroyed [2] [3] .
In 1942, priests who served in the Kazan Church decided to resume their activities and found a private home for the service [2] .
In 1961, the government closed this house [2] .
Ministers
At the time of the creation of the church, they served in it [3] :
- Rector and Archpriest Feofil Vladimirovich Mikhalevich (49 years old). His father was also a priest.
- Second priest Ivan Arsentyevich Glyadkovsky (71 years old).
- Priest Semyon Methododievich Taraskin (62 years old). His father served as a psalmist.
- Deacon Vasily Ivanovich Trifonov (26 years old). Born in a family of petty bourgeois.
Architecture
There were three thrones in the Kazan Church [3] :
- in honor of the Kazan Mother of God ,
- in honor of Prince Alexander Nevsky ,
- in honor of the holy apostle Arkhip and Philemon .
On the territory of the temple was a manor with an area of 1200 square meters. On the estate there were two residential buildings for clergymen [3] .
Educational Activities
There was a church library at the church, which totaled 240 volumes [3] .
There was a church school at the temple, in which about 130 children studied [3] .
New story
After the explosion of the temple, the foundation remained. For a long time in the territory of the destroyed temple was a wasteland. Therefore, the Lugansk diocese wanted to restore the church [2] .
In 1990, near the location of the former church, a room was built under the temple of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God [2] .
In 2007, the Metropolitan of Lugansk and Alchevsk Ioanniky consecrated the site of the construction of the temple. Soon, the regional department of internal affairs also wanted to build a church, but construction has not yet begun [2] .
From 1990-2009 the rector of the church was Archpriest Nikolai Sopilnyak. It was with him that the revival of the parish began. Father Nikolai died in 2009.
From 2009-2011 Archpriest Alexey Darmolad was appointed rector of the church.
Since 2011, Archdeacon Tikhon (Ilgov) was appointed clergyman of the church, as well as the chairman of the parish council. In the same year, after ordination to the priesthood, Hieromonk Tikhon (Ilgov) was appointed rector of the Holy Kazan Church in Lugansk.
In July 2011, the church launched the parish newspaper Dogmatic. In January 2013, an Orthodox literary and art magazine for children “Silver Call” was published at the parish.
In 2014, a project was developed and the foundation was poured under the administrative building on the site of the temporary premises of the Holy Kazan Church, but due to hostilities the construction was suspended.
In the spring of 2018, a wooden log house project was developed, and in the fall of 2018, a new foundation was poured near the site of the destroyed Kazan temple near the site of the destroyed church, and the ruling bishop, Metropolitan of Lugansk and Alchevsk Mitrofan consecrated a place for the construction of a wooden log house. In the spring of 2019, Bishop Mitrofan consecrated the crosses with domes, and by the feast of St. Easter they were installed on the erected church.
