Biography

Arsenty Kolodyazhny was born in 1906 in the village of Gontari (now - Zmiyivsky district, Kharkiv region of Ukraine ). After graduating from the village school he worked on the collective farm . At the beginning of World War II was in the occupation. After liberation in February 1943, Kolodyazhny was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and in March of the same year was sent to the front. Participated in the liberation of Kharkov , Poltava , Kremenchug . By September 1943, the Red Army soldier Arsenty Kolodyazhny was a shooter of the 78th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 25th Guards Rifle Division of the 6th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper [1] .

On the night of September 25-26, 1943, Kolodyazhny, being in the detachment of Senior Lieutenant Zevakhin , crossed the Dnieper near the village of Voiskovoye, Solonyansky District, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast of the Ukrainian SSR, and took an active part in seizing the height of 130.3. When the enemy counterattacked the position of the detachment five times in the morning, the Kolodyazhny machine-gun fire personally destroyed more companies of German infantry. On September 28, 1943, during the battle, Kolodyazhny was wounded, but continued to fight. In October 1943, he went missing [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 19, 1944, Red Army Arsenty Kolodyazhny was posthumously awarded the high title Hero of the Soviet Union for “courage, bravery and heroism shown in the fight against the German invaders” of the Guard. He was also awarded the Order of Lenin , the Red Banner and the Red Star [1] .
