Shmurlo, Augustine

In 1842 he graduated from the historical and philological department of Moscow University . He was a teacher at the 1st Warsaw Provincial Gymnasium (since 1849) and the Schlachiet Institute (since 1854) in Warsaw. Since 1857, he was a professor of Roman and Greek literature at the Warsaw Theological Academy, and since 1862, an associate professor at the Warsaw Main School .

Main works: “Historia literarum romanarum brevissime exposita” (Warsaw, 1851); “About kulturze Grecji prelekcja wstępna w Szkole Głównej” (ib., 1863); “About dziejowem stanowisku starozytności klasicznej” (ib., 1862); "Kilka slow about celu i kierynku gimnazjalnego naucznia" (1865). He also translated Homer's Iliad into Polish (Warsaw, 1887).
