Player Career
Club
He spent his entire career exclusively in the split Hajduk. The first coach is Luca Caliterna . He made his debut in the main team on April 10, 1926 in the match against the Zagreb club HASHK in Split . Then a new generation of “Masters from the Sea” was born, among which was Lemesic. Until 1941, before the war, he spent 491 games and scored 455 goals. In the ranking of the most productive players in the club, he is second only to Frana Matosic . As part of the club, Leo won the championships of Yugoslavia in 1927 and 1929 , and in the championship of the season 1934/35 became the top scorer with 18 goals.
Team
Leo spent 5 games for the national team, scoring 3 goals. The debut took place on May 10, 1929 in a match against Romania in Bucharest (victory 3: 2). The last, fifth game was played on May 29, 1932 against Poland in Zagreb (defeat 0: 3). In that match, he came out as part of the shock five, which also included Aleksandar Tiernanich , Blagoe Marianovich , George Vuyadinovich and Dobrivoe Zechevich .
After a player’s career
As a player, Lemešić held the posts of coach of the small clubs Solin and Split. From 1952 to 1954 he was at the headquarters of the national team of Yugoslavia, in 1956 he was at the headquarters of the national team of the Slovak Republic, from 1961 to 1963 he trained Hajduk. He was also a football referee, serving the matches of the 1948 Olympics and the world championships of 1950 and 1958 . In 1969, he received a special judicial award from FIFA.
Death
At the end of his life, Lemešić became depressed and committed suicide on August 5, 1978. Buried in Split.
