Vasilkovo is located in the west of Arefinsky rural settlement. Here, in the forest edge, there is a small agglomeration of 7 villages: Bunevo , Boltino , Proshino , Oboltino , Bolshoy and Maloe Chernyaevo , with a center in the village of Vasilkovo, located in the direction from the north-west to the south-east. The once cultivated lands around these villages form a field surrounded by forests with a length of about 7 km and a width of up to 4 km. This area is located on the north-eastern slope of the watershed hill. Here are the sources of numerous streams that form the tributaries of the Ukhra River below the Mormu and Talitsa rivers. To the south and west of this area, on another slope of the hill, streams flow into the Rybinsk reservoir on the territory of the Ogarkovsky rural settlement . The source of the Talitsa River is located on the eastern outskirts of Vasilkovo. The closest village, Prostino, on the road towards Arefino, is about 7 km away. Vasilkovo stands on a highway connecting the center of a rural settlement, the village of Arefino with Rybinsk, and this is the last settlement in the direction of Rybinsk. The next village, Bolshoi Mossy , already belongs to the Ogarkovsky rural settlement. From this main road to Vasilkovo, the road begins, going first to the west, then to the north, to the villages in the Morma and Zolotukha basins, ending in Konyaevo . The nearest Oboltino village along this road is 1 km from Vasilkovo. In the south-east direction from Vasilkovo there is a country road to the Bolshoi and Maly Chernyaevo [2] .
In the village there are houses of the late XIX - early XX centuries, richly decorated with sawn carvings . These are large huts on a high base , characteristic of the Russian north . Openwork decor is located in several tiers. Plant motifs are combined with zoomorphic and anthropomorphic images. The rounded top platbands characteristic of the Yaroslavl region remind of the developed baroque platbands of stone buildings. The ends of the logs are covered with wide boards that simulate pilasters , and their top is decorated with the likeness of carved capitals [3] .
On January 1, 2007 in the village of Vasilkovo there were 18 permanent residents [4] . A post office located in the center of the rural village of Arefino serves 36 houses in the village of Vasilkovo [5] .
