Modern Kisamos is a port and fishing village. There is practically no tourism. In the collection of the city archaeological museum, located in the old residence of the governor, are artifacts of local archaeological excavations, including Roman mosaics , pelicas from the ancient city of Falasarna and other antiquities. To the south of Kisamos are the ruins of the famous ancient city of Polirinius ( Πολυρρηνία ), to the west - the ruins of Falasarna .
Prints of 29 tracks of early hominin aged 5.7 million years old were found in the coastal cliffs on the beach of the village of Trachylos ( Τράχηλος ) 4 kilometers north-west of Kisamos in 2002 [4] . Probably, the tracks belong to Greek Predatory [5] [6] . In September 2017, 10 footprints from 40 studied were cut by unknown people from a cliff in the Kasteli area of the archaeological site of Kisamos [7] .
