Biography
Adolf Schmitz studied the art of drawing at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts and at the Shtedelevsky Institute of Art ( Frankfurt ), and then improved his skills by studying the technique of French and Belgian artists [1] .
His specialty was historical painting, although he sometimes wrote genres [1] .
At the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries , the following rating was given to his work on the pages of the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary : “His paintings are distinguished by great realism, the strong character of the figures presented in them and the mastery of technical performance [1] .”
