The Hank Aaron Award is the annual Major League Baseball award given to the best league batter, which is determined by voting among baseball fans and the media . The award was first presented in 1999, on the 25th anniversary of the achievement of Hank Aaron , who made the 714th home run , thus breaking the Babe Ruth record. The award is presented annually before the fourth World Series game by Hank Aaron.

In the 1999 season, the winner was selected using the points system. For hits , home runs and RBI a certain number of points was given and the baseball player with the highest number of points [1] [2] became the winner. In 2000, the determination system was changed to a vote in which radio and television commentators and baseball analysts from each Major League Baseball team participated. Each participant could vote for three players. For the first place the player received five points, for the second - three and for the third - one point. Since 2003, fans have been given the opportunity to vote through the official MLB.com website. The voices of the fans had 30% of the weight, and the voices of commentators and analysts - 70% of the weight [1] . In the seasons 2004 - 2006 , the winner was selected in three separate phases. In August, fans on the official websites of Major League Baseball teams selected from among three players nominated for a club award. Voting leaders from each club became finalists, of which the Major League Baseball jury selected 6 players from each conference. Further, in the online voting, the winner was chosen among the fans. In the 2007 and 2008 seasons, five finalists in each league were determined by voting among fans on the MLB.com website out of 30 nominees selected by a special jury of Major League Baseball. The final winner was selected by online voting [3] . In 2009, the fans chose both the finalists and the final winner. In September, fans selected one finalist out of three nominees from each Major League Baseball club. When all 30 finalists were selected, fans selected the winners of the American and National Leagues [4] .
The first winners of the Hank Aaron Award were Manny Ramirez and Sammy Sosa in 1999. Most often, the award was received by Alex Rodriguez - 4 times [1] .
