Biography

Andrei Kolodin was born on August 18, 1923 in the village of Belomestnoy Kriusha (now - the Tambov district of the Tambov region ). He graduated from two courses of the Tambov Carriage Engineering College. In 1940, Kolodin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1943, he graduated from the Tambov Military Aviation Pilot School. Since March 1944 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

Towards the end of the war, Lieutenant Andrey Kolodin was a senior pilot of the 565th assault air regiment of the 224th assault air division of the 8th air army of the 4th Ukrainian front . During his participation in the battles, he made 157 sorties to attack the accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, inflicting heavy losses [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 18, 1945, Lieutenant Andrei Kolodin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .

After the war, Kolodin continued to serve in the Soviet Army . In 1960, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Sevastopol . He died in 1995 [1] .
