Biography
Fedor Kolesnikov was born on March 29 (in a new style - April 10 ) in 1910 in the village of Kamenskoye (now the city of Kamenskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine ). He received his primary education, after which he worked in the administration of roads of Yalta . In August 1941, Kolesnikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front. By September 1943, the Red Army soldier Fyodor Kolesnikov was the sapper of the 91st engineering battalion of the 47th army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
Kolesnikov was the first in his battalion to carry out reconnaissance of the Dnieper channel in the region of the city of Kanev, Cherkasy region of the Ukrainian SSR , thanks to which it was possible to determine the place for the construction of a bridge across the river. During the crossing of the Dnieper by Soviet units, he made 112 boat trips, transporting a total of about 1900 soldiers and commanders with weapons and ammunition, and ensured that the communication cable was laid along the bottom of the Dnieper. By return flights Kolesnikov transported 295 wounded and about 300 soldiers involved in loading and unloading [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 3, 1944 for “courage, courage and heroism shown in the struggle against the German invaders,” Red Army soldier Fedor Kolesnikov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 5263 [1 ] .
After the war, Kolesnikov was demobilized. He lived in Moscow . He died on April 15, 1992, was buried at the Khovansky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, a number of medals [1] .
