Swatopluk Puskal ( Czech Svatopluk Pluskal ; October 28, 1930 , Zlin - May 29, 2005 , Usti nad Labem ) is a Czechoslovak soccer player and football coach, silver medalist of the 1962 World Cup and bronze medalist of the 1960 European Championship.

Biography
Club career
Swatopluck played more than 700 matches in the domestic championship of Czechoslovakia. He began his career during World War II as part of the Dad team from Zlin (later she bore the names “Gottwald Suite” and “Letna”), playing for her until 1951. In 1951, Swatopluk ended up in Prague as part of the newly formed ATK club (later known as UDA and Dukla). Over 16 years of playing in the Prague team, Pluskal managed to become an eight-time national champion and two-time cup winner. One of the significant successes of the club - the victory in the so-called American Cup during a tour of the USA - was achieved thanks to the efforts of Pluskal: in the final against the Mexican team " America ", Pluskal scored the winning goal. He ended his career in the 1966/1967 season as part of Yablonets due to a serious knee injury.
Team Career
In the national team, Puskal played 55 games, scoring two goals. The debut took place in 1952, on the account of Swatopluck three participation in the World Cup. In 1962, at the World Championships in Chile, Pluskal, along with teammate Joseph Masopust, became a player in the base of the Czechoslovak team, who played tactics 4-2-4. It was the game that Pluskal allowed the Czechs to reach the final part of the tournament, having passed the Scottish team , where the Czechs reached the final and lost only to the Brazilians. In 1965, after Czechoslovakia missed the World Cup in England, Pluskal left the national team.
Swatopluck also has two unique matches: on October 23, 1963 at the Wembley in London , he played in the world team against England on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of English football, and in 1964 he played in the European team against the team of Yugoslavia .
Game Style
He let go was a universal midfielder, he played well with his head. He was known primarily due to his steps and tacks, for which he was removed very rarely, which caused outrage among a number of players. His dedicated game in defense was the key to success of both Dukla and the Czechoslovak team. Out of the field, he supported the team thanks to his excellent sense of humor.
Coach Career
After a player’s career, Swatopluk Pluskal worked as a coach, leading the Pilsen teams Skoda and Slovan, working with the Cyprus club Enosis and another Prague team Bohemians: it was under the leadership of Pluskala that the Bohemians entered the First Division of Czechoslovakia.
Death
He started at the end of his life and suffered a serious stroke and was bedridden. May 29, 2005 he was gone.
