The French Intelligence Community ( French Communauté française de renseignement ) is a collective term for all the current special services of France , used since the early 2000s in French military and diplomatic circles. Intelligence organizations

Subordinate to the Ministry of Defense

Reported directly to the Minister:

Main Directorate of External Security of the French Ministry of Defense (DGSE), with tasks of foreign intelligence and counterintelligence ^[1] ;
Department of Military Counterintelligence of the French Ministry of Defense (DPSD), with the tasks of ensuring the security of military units, personnel, structures and infrastructure of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic ^[2] .

Subordinates to the General Staff of the French Armed Forces:

The intelligence department of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of France (DRM), which is responsible for collecting military information at the operational and operational-tactical level.

In addition, the following military and military intelligence agencies are subordinate to the Ministry of Defense ^[3] :

The brigade of the REB Defense Forces of France (BRGE), which conducts electronic and radio reconnaissance in the interests of the Minister of Defense and the military command, and also deals with the protection of military communications lines and information systems.
The Central Information Systems Security Service (SCSSI), which is responsible for developing regulations and monitoring the use of government ciphers .

Subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior

Reported directly to the Minister:

Main Directorate of Internal Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (DCRI), with the tasks of counterintelligence and the fight against terrorism. The GUVB of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was created as a result of the merger in 2008 of the Main Directorate of Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (DST) and the Internal Intelligence Division (CDSR) of the Main Directorate of Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. ^[4] .

Subordinates to the Main Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs:

Counter-Terrorism Coordination Group (UCLAT) - is responsible for coordinating all government agencies in the fight against terrorism.

Subordinates to the Metropolitan Police Department of Paris:

Paris Police Directorate-General's Internal Intelligence Directorate (DRPP) - responsible for combating terrorism and preventing public disturbances in Paris and the surrounding suburbs. Also plays a supporting role in counterintelligence activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the metropolitan area of Paris .

Subordinate to the Ministry of Economy

The Department of Internal Intelligence of the Main Customs Administration of the Republic (DNRED), is responsible for combating smuggling;
The Department of Internal Intelligence of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic (TRACFIN) is responsible for combating money laundering and illegal financial transactions.
