White Perigord ( fr. Périgord blanc ) - one of the four tourist areas of the modern French department of Dordogne , the former county of Perigord , along with the black , purple and green Perigord. On the territory of the White Perigord is located the administrative center of the Dordogne department, the city of Perigueux .
The name White Perigord originally belonged to a small historical region , which is located on a white limestone plateau near Riberacua [1] .
Often mistakenly called the White Perigord the French historical region of Central Perigord ( French Périgord central ), however, the territory of these two objects is different.
By the beginning of the 21st century, the territory of the White Perigord in general corresponded to the edge of Pey de l'Ile en Périgord ( French: pays de l'Isle en Périgord ), stretching from the eastern part of the center of the Dordogne department to its southwestern outskirts the confluence of the Ovezer River into the Ile , which then flows through the White Perigord up to the border with the Gironde department [2] .
Huge reserves of white limestone , the color of which this tourist region was named, were used for the construction of numerous structures.
