Leptomyrmex (lat.) - the genus of ants of the subfamily dolichoderina ( Dolichoderinae , Leptomyrmecini ). Its representatives, due to their thin limbs, are known as “spider ants” (spider ants). Australia , New Guinea , New Caledonia . More than 20 species [2] [3] .

Leptomyrmex darlingtoni
Leptomyrmex erythrocephalus ant

Leptomyrmex erythrocephalus ant
Medium and small sized wood and earth ants with very long legs and antennas, the body is thin. Color from bright orange to black. The head is very elongated (almost twice as long as its width). The antennae of females and workers are 12-segmented (in males, antennas consist of 13 segments). Zhval workers with 16-25 teeth. The mandibular palps are 6-segmented, the lower labial palps are composed of 4 segments. Shins of middle and hind legs with one apical spur. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of one segment ( petiol ) [3] [4] .
Head structure
More than 20 species, which are divided into subgroups of large ("macro") and small ("micro") [3] .
