Biography
Ivan Koksharov was born on September 6, 1919 in the village of Bolshoy Khavino [1] (now the Kichmengo-Gorodetsky district of the Vologda Oblast ). After graduating from elementary school, he worked as a lineman on the Kirov Railway . In 1939, Koksharov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He was wounded three times in battles. By April 1945, the guard sergeant Ivan Koksharov was a machine gunner of the 801th Infantry Regiment of the 235th Infantry Division of the 43rd Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the battles for Koenigsberg [2] .
April 6, 1945 Koksharov participated in the assault on Fort Charlottenburg in the north of Koenigsberg . He overcame two anti-tank ditches, three lines of wire fences and a river, after which he went on the attack, carrying the fighters along with him. In that battle, Koksharov personally destroyed 38 German soldiers and officers and 3 machine guns, which contributed to the successful advance of the entire battalion. He was wounded, but continued to fight. Two days later, in battles on the streets of Königsberg, Koksharov was seriously injured and sent to a hospital [2] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 19, 1945, for sergeant Ivan Koksharov’s exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown by the guard, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the medal " Golden Star ” under the number 8640 [2] .
In October 1945, Koksharov was demobilized. He lived in Tver , worked at a local car building plant as a design engineer. He died on July 4, 2004 [2] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, Red Star and Glory of the 3rd degree, a number of medals [2] .
In honor of Koksharov, his bust was installed in Kichmengsky Gorodok [2] .
