The Kuban is a river in the Kostroma region of Russia , it flows through the territory of the Nerekhtsky and Kostroma regions . It falls into the Gorky Reservoir on the Volga River , 2,534 km from the mouth on the right bank. The length of the river is 24 km, the catchment area is 218 km². At 11 km from the mouth, it takes to the left the Singa River.

The source of the river in the tract Soykino on the site of the former village of the same name, 6 km south-east of the village Kosmynino . Flows to the north, in the lower course turns to the east. On the river are the villages of Pyankovo and Ivakino. It falls into the Gorky Reservoir ten kilometers below the center of Kostroma . On the banks of the river in the lower reaches - gardens and rest homes. The last two kilometers of the current forms the Gorky Reservoir Bay. At the mouth of the pier.

According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Upper Volga basin district , the water management section of the river is the Volga from the city of Kostroma to the Gorky hydroelectric complex (the Gorky reservoir ), without the river Unzha , the river sub-basin of the river Volga below the Rybinsk reservoir to the confluence of the Oka. The river basin is the (Upper) Volga to the Kuibyshev reservoir (without the Oka basin) [2] .
