Biography
Albert Merzlenko was born in 1927 in Anthracite .
Before the war, he studied at the turner in the central electromechanical workshop.
When the Great Patriotic War began, Albert Merzlenko worked on a machine for an adult turner, but since he was still low, they put a box.
When the war ended, Merzlenko studied for about a year at the Krasnoluchsky Mining College .
Since 1949, a member of the CPSU (b).
In 1953, Albert graduated from the Leningrad Mining Institute and received an engineering degree. I went to work in the mine. He quickly moved up the career ladder, soon became deputy chief engineer, then chief engineer of the mine, and in 1957, the head of the mine. Albert Vasilievich’s mentor was the hero of labor Mikhail Ivanovich Morozov.
In 1957, Vladimir Shevchenko recommended Albert Vasilyevich Merzlenko to the post of 2 secretary of the CPSU district committee . Soon he became the first secretary of the city committee in Anthracite.
During his leadership in the city, the following changes occurred:
- In 1956, mine number 54 was created in honor of the 50th anniversary of Soviet Ukraine, it worked with a capacity of 100 thousand tons per year.
- In 1957, the Lviv-Komsomolskaya mine and the Kolpakovskaya mine were created.
- In 1957, passenger buses traveled to Anthracite, thanks to them it was now possible to get to the city by bus from the villages.
- Worker of mine number 7 Joseph Adrakhovsky received the hero of Socialist Labor, for which he made 27 thousand tons of coal per month, which is a record.
- In 1958, 2 Nagolchansky mines began to work, and the LGD-1 combine, invented by Lugansk engineers, was also made. LGD-1 participated in an exhibition in New York.
- In 1959, three kindergartens, several residential buildings for miners and a boarding school came into operation.
- In 1960, the foreman of the bulk pickers Olga Skachkov received the Hero of Socialist Labor.
- In 1963, 15 mines, 16 trade unions and 21 libraries were already operating in the city.
- In 1964, the first monument to Shevchenko was opened in the Lugansk region in honor of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian poet.
In 1964, in connection with the reorganization of the party apparatus, industrial and agricultural committees merged. On December 4, 1964, at a meeting of the regional committee, a new secretariat was elected: V.V. Shevchenko (1 secretary), V.N. Azarov (2 secretary), I.S. Ivanenko, N.S. Davidenko, Yu.F. Ponomarenko and A.V. Merzlenko.
December 7, 1964 Albert Vasilyevich Merzlenko became deputy chairman of the Executive Committee of the Lugansk - Voroshilovgrad Regional Council Nikolai Mikhailovich Gureev .
He was a deputy of the XXVI Congress of the Communist Party of Ukraine .
In 1981 to 1986, Chairman of the Lugansk Regional Council .
July 15, 1997 Albert Merzlenko died due to lung problems.

He was married to Vera Efremovni Merzlenko.
Memory
In Anthracite , a memorial plaque was installed on the walls of the school where Merzlenko studied.
