About the album

Five years after the release of Cher I Paralyze ’s latest album and her decision to focus on a film career, the artist signed a contract with Geffen Records (which was later absorbed by one of her former labels, MCA Records ) and soon went to the studio to record what will be her new album. Cher's self-titled album was released in the fall of 1987. The album was produced by Michael Bolton , John Bon Jovi , Richie Sambora and Desmond Child . Among the famous guest artists are Bonnie Tyler and Darlene Love , whose voices can be heard in the song "Perfection".

After a series of pop and disco records, Cher moved on to radio-friendly rock, which helped her return to the charts. The album includes a new version of the hit song “ Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) ”, Michael Bolton’s song “ I Found Someone ” (originally written and recorded by Laura Branigan ), several songs written by Desmond Child and two songs written by Diane Warren , which will continue to write many more songs for the singer. [1] Also included in the album was Hard Enough Getting Over You, written with the participation of Cher herself.

The album reached # 26 on the UK album chart and # 32 on the Billboard 200 chart . [2] The first single from the album was “I Found Someone,” which reached # 5 in the UK and # 10 in the US. [2] The second single, “We All Sleep Alone,” reached # 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was next to the top 10 songs on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks - # 11. He was less successful in the UK, reaching only # 47. Other singles "Skin Deep", " Bang Bang " and "Main Man" were released as promos only in North America.

Promotion

The album was presented at Saturday Night Live , where Cher performed “I Found Someone” and “We All Sleep Alone,” as well as the Late Show with David Letterman , “I Found Someone” and “I Got You Babe”. This performance will later be released on videotape, in addition to this is her last performance with her ex-husband Sonny Bono before his death. The album was also promoted on British television.
