Biography
Vasily Kozlov was born on February 21, 1920 in the village of Molchanovka (now the Rakitnyansky district of the Kiev region of Ukraine ). Since 1932, he and his family lived in Makeevka , where he graduated from ten classes of a school and flying club. In 1940, Kozlov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, he graduated from the Tambov Military Aviation Pilot School. Since July 1942 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By April 1944, Captain Vasily Kozlovsky commanded a squadron of the 810th assault air regiment of the 225th assault air division of the 5th Air Army of the 2nd Baltic Front . By that time, he had made 103 sorties to attack clusters of military equipment and manpower, inflicting heavy losses [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 19, 1944, Captain Vasily Kozlovsky was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
In 1953, Kozlovsky graduated from the Military-Political Academy. In 1960, with the rank of colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Moscow [1] . He died on January 4, 1997, was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow [2] .
He was also awarded three orders of the Red Banner , the Order of Alexander Nevsky , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
