Sumykhimprom ( Ukrainian: Sumikhimprom ) is a chemical industry plant that produces: mineral fertilizers [2] , coagulants and cement additives, acids, titanium dioxide and pigments [3] , and other types of chemical products [4] .

History
1946 - 1991
In March 1946 , the government of the USSR decided to build a new superphosphate plant in Ukraine to provide mineral fertilizers to agricultural producers of the black soil regions of the RSFSR, the Ukrainian SSR, and the BSSR.
On June 6, 1947 , the USSR Ministry of Chemical Industry issued an order that the construction of a superphosphate plant with a capacity of 200 thousand tons of simple superphosphate per year will be carried out in the city of Sumy . This moment was the beginning of the history of Sumykhimprom.
In mid- 1949 , work began on the construction of the Sumy Superphosphate Plant; on July 6, 1953 , Gorbik Pavel Ivanovich was appointed to the position of director of the plant.
On December 13, 1954 , the first workshop of the Sumy Superphosphate Plant [8] (sulfuric acid workshop No. 1) was commissioned. On September 28, 1955 , the launch of superphosphate workshop No. 1 for the production of simple powder superphosphate took place. In the summer of 1958 , the production of granular superphosphate began.
- In 1958 , trial batches of defluorinated phosphates were produced, after which the USSR Ministry of Chemical Industry approved the standards for the consumption of OFF in livestock

- 1962 construction of a fundamentally new sulfuric acid workshop with a high level of automation (SKTs No. 2)
- October 1963 launch of the first titanium dioxide workshop in the USSR .
- On March 2, 1964 , in connection with the transformation of the superphosphate plant into a diversified enterprise, the Sumy superphosphate plant was reorganized into the Sumy Chemical Plant.
- 1966 construction of a titanium dioxide production workshop No. 2.
- 1966 construction of a workshop for the production of yellow iron oxide pigments.
- 1966 - 1970 , commissioning of the granulation workshop No. 2, the neutralization workshop of the aluminum sulfate workshop.
- November 1969 , Aleksandr Iosifovich Kravchenko was appointed director of the Sumy Chemical Plant.
- 1971 construction of a phosphoric acid workshop.
- December 1973 , commissioning of the sulfuric acid workshop No. 5.
- 1974 construction of an ammophos workshop.
- April 1975 , the Sumy Chemical Plant becomes the Khimprom Production Association [8] .
- February 17, 1976 , by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR for overfulfilment of the ninth five-year plan for the production of mineral fertilizers, early commissioning of the production of ammophos PO Khimprom was awarded the Order of Lenin [8] .
- 1978 commissioning of the liquid complex fertilizer workshop, sulfuric acid workshop No. 6 and reactive sulfuric acid workshop. The four types of products manufactured by Sumy PA Khimprom — liquid complex fertilizers, oleum, defluorinated phosphates and ammophos — were awarded the State Quality Mark by the State Standard Committee under the USSR Council of Ministers.
- 1982 year of commissioning of the paint and varnish workshop for the production of PF enamels.
- 1983 year construction of a phosphogypsum drying workshop.
- 1984 year construction of the first in the USSR sodium pyrosulfite workshop, a preservative for siloing green feed in animal husbandry.
- 1991 the commissioning of a new superphosphate workshop No. 1 with a capacity of 160 thousand tons instead of technologically obsolete and environmentally harmful old workshops.
In Soviet times, the plant was one of the largest industrial enterprises of the city [9] [10] .
After 1991
After the independence of Ukraine, Sumy Khimprom became the base enterprise of the chemical industry of Ukraine for the production of phosphorus mineral fertilizers.
- 1995 year of transformation of Khimprom Production Association into Sumykhimprom OJSC.
- November 1995 , Lapin Evgeny Vasilyevich was appointed to the post of General Director of Sumykhimprom OJSC.
- In August 1997, Sumykhimprom was included in the list of enterprises of strategic importance for the economy and security of Ukraine [11]
- 1997 - 1998 implementation of the energy saving project on the basis of Sumykhimprom OJSC within the framework of the TACIS program developed by the European Union for the CIS countries.
- July 2002 appointment of Nikolai Alekseevich Trofimenko as Chairman of the Board of OJSC Sumykhimprom.
- April 2003 commissioning in partnership with the Finnish company Kemira of a plant for the production of sulfate-iron-containing coagulant (FFA) from titanium dioxide production wastes
- The end of 2002 - 2003 , the production technology of the new balanced mineral fertilizer "SuperAgro" type N: P: K 15:15:15 was worked out.
- On April 15, 2003 , a certificate was issued for the ISO 9001: 2000 quality management system developed and implemented at Sumykhimprom OJSC.
- March 2004 , the completion of the reconstruction of production for the production of balanced mineral fertilizer "Supegro".
- 2003-2004 , the reconstruction and modernization of the production of titanium dioxide at the company's own expense, which allowed to stabilize the quality and raise the whiteness to 95 conventional units and the intensity to 1800 conventional units.
- 2004 OJSC “Sumykhimprom” became the winner in the international rating “Golden Trademarks” for the production of oleum and complex mineral fertilizers “Supegro”.
- On December 2, 2004 , a certificate was issued for the implemented environmental management system in the production of mineral fertilizers in accordance with the international standard ISO 14001: 1996.
In January 2005, the reconstruction of the white filtration unit in the titanium dioxide workshop No. 2 began (after completion of which in December 2006 the enterprise was able to produce a new brand of titanium dioxide SumTitan R-208) [12] . Also, in December 2006, reconstruction of sulfuric acid shop No. 4 was completed at Sumykhimprom [13] .
The economic crisis that began in 2008 complicated the position of the plant in 2008-2009. In October 2008, the company was granted a tax credit [14] , but from November 30 to December 3, 2009, due to an increase in debt, Naftogaz suspended the supply of natural gas to the enterprise (which caused the suspension of Sumykhimprom production processes). After the issue was resolved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Sumykhimprom debt was restructured [15] [16] .
Sumykhimprom ended the year with a loss of 150.915 million hryvnias, in 2011 it was possible to halve the losses, however, on January 31, 2012, the Sumy Region economic court initiated a bankruptcy proceeding in PJSC Sumykhimprom [17] .
On December 7, 2012, the State Property Fund of Ukraine decided to sell the enterprise [18] . In December 2014, an enterprise reorganization plan was approved [19] (according to the book value of the 50 largest state enterprises of Ukraine included in the list) [20] .
In September 2015, the SPFU set a tender date for December 2015 [21] , later the sale of the enterprise was postponed to 2016 [22] . On May 10, 2018, a decision was approved on the privatization of the enterprise by the end of 2018 [23] .
On November 1, 2018, Russia imposed sanctions against Sumykhimprom [24] .
Current status
Currently, it is a private joint stock company, a large energy chemical complex, the industrial site of which occupies 226 hectares. The structure of the enterprise includes: 11 main workshops , 20 auxiliary workshops , 7 subdivisions of the non-industrial group (catering complex, sanatorium, etc.).
