Biography

The year of birth of Giscard is unknown. She was married to Viscount Gabardan Pierre II , who died before 1134. For the first time, the name of Giscard is mentioned next to the name of her husband in the act on the return of land to the monastery in Morla , dated August 8, 1115.

In 1134, at the battle of Frag , Santul VI , brother of Giscarda, was killed. He was not married, did not leave children. Therefore, Bearn inherited Giscard, who ruled on behalf of her young son Pierre II (III) . At least until 1136, her mother, Taleza of Aragon, helped her in managing Bearn.

Giscarda departed from the management of Bearn in 1147, transferring all power to Pierre II, who became an adult. But in 1153, Pierre II died, leaving the infant son of Gaston V. Giscarda became a regent at his place, but in April 1154 she died.
