Biography

Born July 26, 1798 in the family of Count Nikolai Alexandrovich Zubov and his wife Natalya Alexandrovna , daughter of Prince A.V. Suvorov .

Educated in the Page Corps , which he graduated with honors. His name was written on a marble board. Even before his release from the corps, on August 24, 1815, the king of France Louis XVIII granted him the Order of Lily . On March 26 of the following year, Zubov was released from his pages by a cornet to the Cavalier Guard regiment , and on November 9, 1819 he was promoted to assignment with the appointment of the regiment commander as a personal adjutant. January 1, 1822 he was promoted to headquarters captain, and exactly three years later - to captains.

In 1827, due to domestic circumstances, he was dismissed from service with the rank of colonel with a uniform, but soon he filed a petition for his appointment to the Ministry of Finance and was accepted by the official of special assignments under the resolution of Count Kankrin : “I will be sincerely glad to have such a comrade” . However, he served in this position for a short time.

Zubov was engaged in collecting art. His portrait by V. Tropinin has been preserved. It is also known that he proposed to Karl Bryullov to paint a picture on the theme “Innocence leaving the land” , and allocated up to 12 thousand rubles in it with banknotes and incurred the cost of sending her to an exhibition in Paris if Bryullov found it good.

Zubov died single in Moscow on March 16, 1855. He was buried in a family tomb on the territory of the Sergius desert near St. Petersburg.
