Biography
Born January 17, 1923 in Fuzhin in the family of a poor craftsman. She graduated from elementary school, then due to lack of money she could not study. In 1939, at the Esperanto courses, she met with representatives of the Communist Youth Union of Yugoslavia , where she quickly joined.
After the occupation of the country in 1941, Ivanka began preparing for the uprising, purchasing food, clothing, weapons and ammunition. She was a member of the Delnitsky District Committee of the SKJU and carried out tasks on the territory freed from the Nazis. At the beginning of 1942 she was accepted into the party, in March she was arrested by the Italian police on charges of helping the partisans and then was released for lack of evidence. After her release, Ivanka was officially accepted into the partisans and went to serve in the Matiya Gubets battalion. Participated in the battle for Mrkople and in the operations of the Goran partisan company. In 1942, through her efforts, the Delnitsa Company was created as part of the Primorsko-Goran partisan detachment.
In the same year, Ivanka made her way through the forest past the garrisons of the occupation forces, together with 30 young people, and reached Dreznitsa, where she began organizing working companies that were engaged in restoring the destroyed economy and helping those in need. These working companies were also involved in the evacuation of the wounded from the 7th partisan hospital during enemy attacks. In November 1942, Ivanka spoke at the 1st Congress of the Joint Union of Antifascist Youth of Yugoslavia .
In 1943, she became a member of the Fuzhinsky district committee of the Communist Party of Croatia, the secretariat of the Joint Anti-Fascist Youth Union, the Gorsko-Kotarsky district committee of the SKMU and the People’s Liberation Council of Fujine. Work in several places weakened the girl’s health, and in 1944 she went for treatment. In October 1944, Ustashi arrested her in Brod-on-Buy and was tortured and beaten for twenty days. On October 31, 1944, by the verdict of the Karlovac court, she was hanged in the village of Draganichi.
Ivanka Trokhar was awarded posthumously the Order of the National Hero by decree of July 24, 1953 .
