Irisberto Herrera ( Spanish: Irisberto Herrera ; born December 7, 1968 ) - Cuban- Spanish chess player , grandmaster ( 1999 ). Champion of Cuba (1996). As part of the Cuban team, he participated in the 32nd Olympiad ( 1996 ) in Yerevan .

Biography
Irisberto Herrera was born on December 7, 1968 in Las Tunas . In 1986, he won the Cuban championship, and in 1989 became an international champion. In 1996, he became the champion of Cuba, sharing first place with Julio Bezerra. In the same year he played for the Cuban national team at the Chess Olympiad . Since 1999, he became a grandmaster . His Elo rating is 2438 (as of October 2015), but he is considered inactive in FIDE because he did not play in the Elo rating match from the 2012/13 Madrid Team Championship. In July 1998, he reached the Elo 2487 rating. In the Spanish team championship he played in 2007 and 2008 for CA Reverté Albox.
He has taught chess in several schools in Madrid since 2006 and is the organizer of chess tournaments.
