Leskovitsa (Chernihiv region)

Leskovitsa ( Ukrainian Liskovitsya ) is a historically developed locality (district) of Chernihiv . Along with Val , it is one of the oldest parts of the city. It is located on the territory of the Novozavodsk administrative district, partly on the territory of the National Architectural and Historical Reserve "Ancient Chernigov" three kilometers from Val and two kilometers from the Eletsky Assumption Monastery [1] .

Territory

The territory of this historically developed locality (region) is bounded from the north by Leo Tolstoy Street, from the east by Peace Avenue, from the west by the Chernihiv - Nizhyn railway line of the South-Western Railway . To the south there is a tract and a park-monument of landscape gardening art. The proletarian guy and the “ dredger ” - an artificial reservoir, one of the recreation places of Chernigov.

The building is represented mainly by individual (private) houses. In the 1950s, Khrushchevs were erected to the west of Boldina Gora in the village of workers of the Chernigov Thermal Power Plant (the village of the CHP).

There are two secondary schools (No. 4, 24), one kindergarten (No. 26) on the territory of the microdistrict, and a religious school operates in the Trinity-Ilyinsky monastery (founded in the 11th century).

Leo Tolstoy Street

Leo Tolstoy Street is the main transport artery of Leskovitsy, through which the routes of trolleybus No. 8, buses / minibuses No. 7 (also goes along Leskovitskaya), 30, 36.

Attractions

On Boldinaya Hill there is a whole complex of archaeological, architectural and historical monuments and attractions [1] :

  • Elias Church (a monument of architecture of the XII century) with the Museum of Anthony Caves ,
  • Holy Trinity Cathedral (an architectural monument of the 18th century) with a 58-meter bell tower (1775) of the Trinity-Ilyinsky Monastery (founded in the 11th century),
  • memorial of Glory with the “ eternal flame ”,
  • a monument on the grave of L.I. Glebov ,
  • monument on the grave of M. M. Kotsyubinsky ,
  • grave of A.V. Markovich ,
  • Mounds Gulishche and Bezymyanny (dated to the end of IX - beginning of X century).

At the foot of the Boldina Mountain is now an inactive fountain.

In addition, there is a museum of the history of Leskovitsa, located at the intersection of Leo Tolstoy and Prince of Black.
