Biography
The representative of the Polish gentry family Potocki coat of arms " Pilawa ". The youngest son of Cornish Krakow Maciej Potocki. Born in the village of Potok, near Jendzheuv in Krakow land.
In 1527, the owner of the estates of Pukov and Sokolov , received in the dowry for his wife. In 1533 he sold his share of the family estate Potok to his cousin Jan Pototsky. February 6, 1533 at the Sejm in Piotrków Trybunalski received from the Polish king Sigismund the Old in possession of the village Unizh .
Like much of the Polish gentry, Jakub Potocki set off to seek a better share in the Russian voivodship in order to develop Polish settlements there, whose main task was to strengthen the defenses of the Polish kingdom . Yakub Pototsky settled in the Galician land . In 1531, he participated in the battle with the Moldavians near Obertin , where he was part of a banner under the command of Wawrzynets Budowski. In June 1535 he was appointed a Galitsky jury . From 1536, he was the commander of his own company, on February 1, 1538, he participated in a fight with the army of the Moldavian king Peter Raresha at the River Seret , and in August 1538 - at the Battle of Hotin .
On April 18, 1543, Yakub Pototsky was appointed a subcomory of the Galician . The Seimas of 1544 , 1545 and 1547 transferred to him the possession of the small town of Falcons along the Golden Flow , the Knuckles , and in Podolia - Babchintsy , Krikov , Kovyach, Suhodol , Krivoe and Coopers. April 5, 1547 received the right to establish the city of Sidorov .

Around 1544, he re-married Drusilla Yazlovetskaya (died after 1570 ), the daughter of Kamenetz Nikolay Yazlovetsky-Monastyrsky, a castellan (died 1555 ). Children:
