Khozapini [2] [6] (Kartsakhi [2] , Georgian. ხოზაფინის ტბა ) or Aktash [7] [8] ( tour. Aktaş Gölü ) is a boundary lake of tectonic origin in the Javakheti Highland of the Lesser Caucasus . The Georgian-Turkish border crosses the lake from north-west to south-east, dividing it into approximately two equal parts: the north-east Georgian, which occupies 53% of the water surface and the south-west Turkish [5] [8] .

Location
Located between with. Kartsakhi, Akhalkalaki municipality of Georgia and the settlement of Kenarbel, Childyr region, Turkey [8] .
North of the lake are the Murakvali Mountains , to the south - the Hektapsky Range passes [1] .
Hydrography
Located at an altitude of 1799 meters, the area (26.3 km² [2] ) ranks second among the lakes of Georgia [11] [12] .
There are 12 islands on the lake, all of them are located in the southwestern half of the lake and belong to Turkey [4] .
Water Mode
The main sources of lake nutrition are precipitation and groundwater. The maximum water level is observed in June, the minimum - in February [5] .
Flora
Nearby is one of the most significant subalpine forests for Georgia, also near the lake grow Colchian mountain ash ( lat. Sorbus colchica ), caterpillar , thickets of wild rose and raspberry bushes are common [9] .
In 2004, the only habitat of five-leafed shrub ( lat. Dasiphora fruticosa ) in Georgia was found on the lake and in the surrounding area . [9] .
The islands of the lake have sparse vegetation, on the shores there are small thickets of reeds and reeds [8] .
Fauna
The lake is an important habitat for large populations of certain bird species, in particular, the curly pelican ( lat. Pelecanus crispus ), the pink pelican ( lat. Pelecanus onocrotalus ), the Armenian gull ( lat. Pelecanus onocrotalus ) and the largest Georgian population of the eagle owl ( lat. Bubo bubo ). In total, 59 species of bird representatives are found on the lake, of which 20 species belong to the waterfowl [9] [13] .
