Bruce Neil Smith ( born Bruce Neil Smith ) is a British musician , best known as a post-punk drummer for The Pop Group and Public Image Ltd. He also worked with bands like The Slits and Rip Rig & Panic . In 2009, he again joined the PiL with which he currently performs.

Career
Smith joined The Pop Group in 1977 and was in the group until it broke up in 1980. He also played with the band when they reunited in 2010.
After the collapse of The Pop Group, he joined The Slits in 1980 and remained a member until 1982, when the group also broke up.
After The Pop Group and The Slits, Smith teamed up with Adrian Sherwood and joined New Age Steppers. At this time, in 1981, he and Nene Cherry , who also worked with New Age Steppers, created the group Rip Rig & Panic . In 1983, he married Cherry, and they had a daughter. They divorced in 1984.
In 1986, Smith was accepted into the PiL for the upcoming tour in support of the album “ Album ”. After the tour, Bruce remained in the group and stayed in it for almost four years. He played on two studio albums “ Happy? "And" 9 "and was an important part of the new PiL . After many concerts due to personal problems, he left the PiL in early 1990. Before leaving the group, he recorded with them a song for the film " On the crest of a wave ."
During his time at PiL, Smith worked with Terence Trent D'Arby on his debut album " Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby " (1987) and with Guided By Voices (1989). After PiL Bruce worked as a session musician. He played on the album “Dusk” of The The Group in 1993 and on the second album of Björk - Debut .
In 2009, together with Lou Edmonds, who also played in the group, was reunited with PiL . In 2012, they released the album " This is PiL ".
