Shklyaev, Afanasy Kirovich

Afanasy Kirovich Shklyaev (? - 1813) - Russian poet and translator of the 18th century.

A pupil and then a teacher of the Vyatka Theological Seminary, archpriest in the city of Glazov since 1801. Shklyaev possessed a rare knowledge of Latin poets and himself wrote Latin poems with such ease that he never used the then-usual manual "Gradus ad Parnassum ...".

He was known for his work on the spread of Christianity among the Udmurts and translated into the Udmurt language, which he owned, the Gospel of Mark [1] .
